We’re excited to support you on your homeschooling journey. At Whitmore Elementary, we believe in personalized learning that honors each student’s unique strengths, interests, and pace, while also meeting the requirements of California’s Independent Study laws. This catalog features a range of curriculum options that have been carefully reviewed to ensure alignment with California State Standards and provide the same high-quality education as in-person instruction. Our goal is to help families and teachers collaborate to create a personalized, standards-based learning plan for each student.

If you have a different curriculum in mind, please connect with your child’s teacher. We’re happy to work with you to review its alignment to California standards and explore any supplements that might be needed to meet program requirements.

The Whitmore School Office places curriculum orders, and we use Rainbow Resource, Amazon, and the local store, The Reading Basket.
California Standards "I Can" Checklists

California Standards "I Can" Checklists

Our I Can Checklists are designed to make learning standards clear and achievable for every student in grades K–8. Organized by subject—English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies—these checklists translate state standards into simple “I can…” statements that students and families can understand.
The checklists:
  • Provide a clear roadmap of grade-level expectations.
  • Help students take ownership of their learning by tracking progress and setting goals.
  • Support teachers and parents in working together to guide academic growth.
  • Celebrate student success as skills are mastered.
By using I Can Checklists, families and educators create a shared language of learning, ensuring students build confidence and meet milestones step by step.
